Help! In What Order Do I Put This On? Skincare.
When I first started getting into makeup I wasn’t really sure what I was doing. I put on a little bit of moisturizer and at the time I used BareEscentuals and I was good to go, that was early on in high school. Then later on, I discovered primer and serums and I wasn’t sure where all these things were supposed to go on my face!
Well, I’m here to help you get a little organized.
The key is to always start with the lightest things first or the things you need to work deeper in your skin first (serums, which tend to be ligher anyway). I also use this for applying hair products.
- Serum
After cleansing your face apply a serum to matches your needs. There are serums for everything! Right now I’m applying Ole Henriksen Truth Serum that I received in my GlossyBox last month.
- Sunscreen
While sunscreen tends to be very heavy you should opt for one a little less heavy when you’re applying one to your face. My personal favorite is Kate Somerville Protect. While that is more an expensive choice, you should look for facial sunscreen rather than a full body one. Neutrogena has a great option, for so much less money and it won’t break you out.
- Moisturizer
Finally, to the easy stuff. Moisturizer. There is so many to chose from! I personally have dry skin and from my post from things I cannot live without, you know Josie Maran Argan Oil is one of those things. If you’re not looking to spend $50 on a moisturizer but still want a recommendation from me, I love Kiehl’s moisturizers. Go to their website and type RETAILMENOT20 (expires 9/24) and you will get 20% any Kiehl’s order. So, great time to try one of their moisturizers right? I like the ones that come in the bottles. For dry skin, this one is my favorite. For oily skin, this one is a great product.
- Primer
Finish all this off with a primer. My go to primer since…well…the beginning is Smashbox Photofinish. I haven’t really tried fully any other ones because I’m dedicated to my Smashbox primer. It also lasts such a long time! The primer I’ve heard great reviews and have been meaning to try is L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base. That would be a great primer to go to if you’re looking for a primer for more than half the price.
After that, you’re done and you’re ready for makeup! I might do another post on makeup for you guys some other times but at least now, if you didn’t before what order you should go with your skincare.
If you’re wondering out of these 4 things what I would invest in 1st, it would be moisturizer. Also, it would be moisturizer with SPF. Out of all skincare, it would have to be a great cleanser for your face type, but that’s another post.
Have a wonderful day!
