If you saw my past challenge of organizing your make up you saw that I had acrylic brush holders. Well, I found a YouTube video on converting a used candle that’s in glass into a sparkly brush holder. You can find that video by Missglamorazzi by clicking here! I’ll take you on a picture step by step!

Step One!

First you want to put your candle in the freezer for a few hours or overnight to freeze the wax. I’m using a Slatkin & Co candle (this coconut water candle smells amazing!) but you can use any glass container and a plastic container should work just fine as well.
Step Two!

After you had your candle in the freezer (I forgot and left mine for a couple days) you just have to get a knife and drag it along the edges to losen the edges of the wax then stick the knife in the middle and twist to break the wax into pieces you can take out.
Step 3!

Next, you will want to wash the glass with just a sponge and dish soap. If your wicks did not come out when you took out the wax you can get a a little bit of hot water to losen the glue. The front sticker for me came off easily with my fingers and the bottom sticker I just scraped off with a knife. If you have any stubborn residue just get a cotton pad with acetone and clean it off.
Step 4!

Now that you have your clean glass you’ll need Mod Podge in matte or gloss, I chose gloss but I do not think it will be a big difference. Get a brush to apply the Mod Podge, I would recommend a smaller brush than what I have here (2”), a 1 inch or half inch would work perfectly. You will also need a brush and some glitter. I’m using Martha Stewart glitter in Carrara Marble Glitter. My glitter is very fine so if you want it to be big pieces of glitter you can get that as well to get more coverage. While a smaller glitter will give you more of a shimmer look. Don’t forget to have wax paper or regular paper to catch any spills or glitter.
Step 5!

Then, you’ll apply and even layer off Mod Podge all over the container. As you can see mine isn’t too even. I had a hard time with the large brush applying it, but it still worked out.
Step 6!

Afterwards you will want to put a generous amount of gitter into the inside, don’t worry if you put too much since you have paper to catch what falls out when you roll the glitter around to coat the whole container. After you finished coating the whole glass with glitter you can set aside to dry and then funnel in the left over glitter back into the container.
Finished!

After letting it dry for a few hours you’re done and you can fill it with plant filler to hold your brushes or use it fill in with other things and give as gift to someone. If your candle came with a lid like mine did, you can just put the lid on and gift it on with goodies inside!
I decided to not use it as a brush holder but rather save them for Christmas and fill it to gift away. The person you give it to can use it as they like afterwards. A friend of mine gave a great idea of putting a little tea light candle at the bottom and have it as decoration or even fill it with water and add tea light.
Because I got really happy how it turned out I got an acrylic tumbler I bought at Target I also made a pencil holder.

Hope you enjoyed this and I recommend looking at the video by Missglamorazzi and how hers turned out, which was really amazing!
If you did this let me know how yours turned out!
